Souvignier Gris is a German PIWI bred in 1983 as a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Bronner. It is a pink-skinned 'gris' variety that produces exceptional white wines in the UK. It is resistant to mildews and botrytis and the thick skins of the grapes allow the bunches to hang on through late season damp conditions whitout splitting or rotting. It has manageable upright growth with reliable mid-season ripening. In wines it produces full-bodies whites that mirror the structure of a Pinot Gris or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
